Exploring Orlando by Bike

I am one who hates driving in Orlando. If I can get somewhere on foot or bike I'm a happy lady. Hubs and I rode our bikes around town for 20 miles this weekend. We had a great time exploring the Mills50, Thornton Park, Audubon Park and Winter Park neighborhoods.

We started off Friday with beers at one of my favorite local breweries Ten 10 Brewing.

After our thirst was quenched we made our way to Colonial, I had to go past Big Tree Park along the way so I could see one of my favorite trees in Orlando. This beauty is considered a significant tree here in Orlando.

We made it to Banh Nha Trang just before closing and were able to get a couple of subs to go. Some of my favorite sandwiches in Orlando. I always go for the Meatball Banh Mi. Love it! Bread is perfection👌

We took our sandwiches over to The Falcon Bar in Thornton Park. They have Happy Hour Monday-Saturday 5:30-8pm with $1.50 PBR and $1 off of drafts. It was a perfect night to enjoy beers and our bites on their patio.

Making our way full circle I had to stop at one of my favorite parks in Orlando. Dickson Azalea Park is a wonderful park to sit back and take in some nature. I love how it's hidden below the street.🌳

We made our way back to Audubon Park where we met up with our daughter for an ice cream night cap at Kelly's Homemade Ice Cream. 🍨

Rise and shine Saturday morning! I don't know about you, but I'm a happy camper now that Bumby Avenue is open. There was and official ribbon cutting for the new bike trail that runs along the Avenue. The Mayor, Commissioner Sheehan, and some press were there for the ribbon cutting. We got a police escort over to Bikes, Beans & Bordeaux for some coffee and pastries to celebrate.

Bryan and I then made our way over to Winter Park where we enjoyed checking out the new Blaze Pizza.  I'm excited to see all the new shops and eateries in this area along Orlando Avenue and Lee Rd. The pizza was delicious and a good deal.😋

We then headed east along Webster to the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum. The museum was free to visit all weekend for the holiday weekend. I always enjoy strolling through this museum. It's a gem in the neighborhood.

While I love all the shops and eateries along Park Avenue. My favorite is Central Park. I could sit here all day and take in the sights and watch people.

It was time to get recharged. I had heard about the New General Store in Winter Park and thought that would be a perfect check it out and enjoy a coffee.  Cute little store with some good finds for gifts or your home.

On to one of my favorite hobbies, is day drinking🍻 Stopped by The Ravenous Pig for their daily Happy Hour. Enjoyed this lovely $3 IPA and then headed down the street to The Bear and Peacock for this tasty Pale Ale. Great to have breweries close to each other.

Time to wind down. The day was starting to feel long. Took the path through Mead Gardens and made our way back home in Audubon Park.

Sunday we had to get in the car since we were going to Tampa to visit our oldest daughter. We took her pups and discovered a great dog beach on Picnic Island. Wonderful views of downtown St. Pete. There were dolphins enjoying the Bay as well as the pups.

Stopped by 81 Bay Brewing to cap off our weekend.

Had a nice time exploring Tampa for the day.

I hope you had a great time Exploring Orlando. I for one am happy to see the improvements with our bike lanes so that exploring Orlando by bike can be an easy way to get out and see what the city has to offer. I find when I'm on bike or foot I discover many things that get overlooked when going by car.

Biking is my favorite way to explore Orlando.
