A Visit to Mead Botanical Gardens in Winter Park

Walking around Mead Gardens reminded me of the Awbury Arboretum in Philadelphia. It's green space you know is there, but it’s a bit hidden. It’s a bit isolated, so it has a secretive feel about it.

Come explore

Mead Botanical Gardens is much larger than I anticipated.

There is a large area with picnic tables and big trees scattered about.

The eye-catching Butterfly Garden was attracting beautiful butterflies. The outdoor amphitheater is a nice setting with a stage and flowers abound.

There are some trails close to the creek. Make sure you have proper footwear since the ground can be a bit muddy.

They recently updated their boardwalk area. Another place to meander.

There are a couple of short trails that take you to a pond area off of the creek.

Watch out for snakes & gators

I would love to enjoy a concert in this setting. It's a great area for kids to run and roam as well.

The Grove is a beautiful spot to enjoy a concert in the gardens

There is a bike trail that runs through part of the gardens. When I'm on it I like to stop and see if I can find the Gopher Tortoise. My last visit I saw a couple of little ones in a hole. So cute!
