Dexter's of Thornton Park

I always enjoy a visit downtown to the Thornton Park Neighborhood. This "Neighborhood for the Locals" is worth doing a little exploring and discovering some local finds.

One place I enjoy grabbing a bite to eat is at Dexter's of Thornton Park. This local eatery has been serving up good food in Thornton Park since 1995.

I've been to Dexter's in Winter Park a few times and always enjoy myself there.  The vibe at the Thornton Park location is a bit younger than Winter Park. Both locations offer up the same menu.

I especially like that there is a daily Happy Hour. The $2 off import bottles of beer makes most of the bottles about $2.75.  While the beer list isn't too extensive there are enough choices to please my craft beer cravings.

A great deal is coming in on Tuesday when it's $1Burger Night. Get some Happy Hour drinks and you've scored a bargain for dinner.

Dexter's has a nice traditional "American" menu sure to please all in your group. You'll find entrees, salads, sandwiches and a menu for the kiddos.

I've stopped by Dexter's of Thornton Park a couple of times.  I met some friends for a bite to eat for dinner and enjoyed their Sunday Brunch.  Both visits I've sat at the bar to enjoy my meal.  The center bar is a large and the focal point of this location.

For my dinner visit I went veggie and ordered the Grilled Veggie Sandwich. This sandwich was loaded with veggies. It was so big it made eating it a bit of a challenge. This sandwich come with your choice of cheese and makes a tasty way to get some greens in.

My other visit was on a Sunday for their brunch. Dexter's offers brunch on both Saturday and Sunday. I like to visit on Sunday so afterwards I can then walk over to Lake Eola Park and enjoy the park and the weekly farmer's market.

I love going to brunch and I wish I did more often. Dexter's is popular spot for brunch. During our visit the restaurant was packed. The patio seating makes it a great spot to enjoy a mimosa.

Bryan is a sandwich guy, so he didn't bother with the brunch menu.  He enjoyed his Dexter's Special. I had a hard time deciding since there were many good options on the menu. I ended up with the Croque Madame. This was another large dish that was quite tasty.

What's a brunch without a Mimosa? There are a handful of flavors to enjoy each $2.95 during brunch. If Bloody Marys are more to you liking they are $4.50. If you want to step it up a notch, you could get the Ultimate Bloody Mary with pepper infused vodka and a bacon truffle salted rimmed glass for $6.50

Dexter's of Thornton Park is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They serve their brunch on Saturday and Sunday.  This is a nice place to dine with friends or enjoy a date night on the patio. You can see why Dexter's has been a staple in Orlando and a spot the locals enjoy eating at.
