The Falcon Bar & Gallery

I always enjoy a good neighborhood bar. A nice selection of craft beer is a must. I don't need a big list, just enough variety that I don't feel like I have end up with the usual craft. I prefer smaller bars to large ones that tend to be loud. No smoking is how I roll. The Falcon Bar & Gallery is that bar, making it a great spot to enjoy and evening out with friends.

The Falcon Bar & Art Gallery is that place that you can grab a draft and hang out with friends. This is more than just your neighborhood bar; The Falcon is also a cool art gallery.

I like The Falcon's location in the heart of the Thornton Park neighborhood. This corner bar offers seating outside, at the bar or there are a few tables for your liking. Parking is a premium in this neighborhood, but there are a few spots out back if you can snag one.

Exploring Orlando With Visits to Parks, Museums and Local Bars

I hope you all are enjoying summer! The rainy season is upon us, so I got out when I could to go enjoy a few local parks.  I did a nice bike loop around town and stopped at six different parks.

My first visit was Mead Botanical Gardens in Winter Park. This hidden oasis is a lovely place to walk around. There are a handful of different sections to explore. It's a great way to enjoy an afternoon and it's free!

Summer in Orlando ~ 20 Free Things to Do in the City

We officially kick off summer on Saturday. The summer solstice takes place tomorrow at 6:51 am. While the beach may be the best summer activity in Florida, it's not always convenient.  If you're looking for something closer to home check out the City of Orlando's guide to the 20 Free Things to Do this Summer in the City.  I've enjoyed many of the activities they have listed. I look forward to visiting a few places on the list I haven't been.

1. Stroll through the Greenwood Urban Wetlands.  This is a beautiful park. I love visiting in the fall when the colors of the trees change.

2. Celebrate the 4th of July at Lake Eola Park.  I have yet to celebrate July 4th at Lake Eola Park, but I do enjoy visiting Lake Eola Park as much as I can. Sunday is a fun day to visit the weekly Orlando Farmer's Market.  Enjoy a picnic and take a ride on a swan boat. This park is great for all.

3. Enjoy biking, running or walking along Orlando's Urban Trail. Enjoy the day biking the trail and make sure to visit some of the shops and restaurants along the way in Ivanhoe Village.

Be Our Guest Restaurant

When my kiddos were younger and we visited Walt Disney World we enjoyed dining at Cinderella's Castle. Now that they are older we've graduated to the Beast's Castle. Our days of character dining may be over for a while, but it sure is fun to still dine in a castle.

I've enjoyed lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant a couple of times. Both visits I was at the park early and in exploring Fantasyland. Since we were in the area during lunch we thought we should check it out. There was only about a ten-minute wait outside before we allowed go into the restaurant.

On my recent visit to the restaurant it was nice to see that they were offering guests who were waiting in line some water. That same visit I noticed as we were leaving they had brought out umbrellas to those waiting to help shield the hot sun.

Exploring Orlando with Visits to the Magic Kingdom and Enjoying Craft Beer

I'm probably one of the few people in Orlando who didn't mind all the rain last week. I have been on the go for the last few months and it was so nice to take it slow this week.

My biggest adventure of the week was visiting Walt Disney World on Monday. I took my girls and we had a great time at the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The weather started off hot, but the rain cooled things down making for a beautiful night.

Dexter's of Thornton Park

I always enjoy a visit downtown to the Thornton Park Neighborhood. This "Neighborhood for the Locals" is worth doing a little exploring and discovering some local finds.

One place I enjoy grabbing a bite to eat is at Dexter's of Thornton Park. This local eatery has been serving up good food in Thornton Park since 1995.

I've been to Dexter's in Winter Park a few times and always enjoy myself there.  The vibe at the Thornton Park location is a bit younger than Winter Park. Both locations offer up the same menu.

Exploring Orlando with Visits Downtown, Winter Park, The Milk District and Walt Disney World

What an emotional week. My oldest graduated from high school on Tuesday. I'm so proud of her! We've had quite a journey moving around a bit and going from school to homeschool to high school. I'm excited for her new college adventure in Tampa.

After the graduation at the Amway Center, our group met for lunch at The Boheme Restaurant at the Grand Bohemian Hotel. We had excellent service and the setting was wonderful. The food was great too. I look forward to returning soon.

An Evening at Walt Disney World's Boardwalk and Epcot

Thursday was a beautiful day in Orlando for a visit to Walt Disney World. It happened to be the first day of "summer" for my kids and what better way to enjoy it than at Disney.

My daughter and her boyfriend headed to Fantasia Gardens for a round a mini golf. It was nice to get an Annual Passholder discount for them.

While they were enjoying their time playing mini golf, Bryan and I enjoyed our time at Big River Grille and Brewing Works. We were stopping by for a tapping party. Kent, the brewmaster was tapping his Belgian Golden Strong

Exploring Orlando with visits to Winter Park, Downtown, Audubon Park and More

It was a busy week of parties and celebrations. I had a lot of friends celebrating birthdays this week including the hubs. It's always a fun time gathering with friends.

Wednesday was a beautiful night, so Bryan and I decided to go and check out Craft Night at Park Plaza Gardens. We had already eaten, so we just went to enjoy a craft beer. The $3 beer for the evening was Hop House from Ommegang. Craft Night takes place every Wednesday from 6pm-10pm. Next visit I'd like to check out the Cheese & Charcuterie plate.

Friday we headed downtown to say goodbye to a friend who was moving. We all met up at Therapy Brew Bar & Wine Lounge.  They have a nice outdoor patio to enjoy your craft beer and wine. There is a nice selection of beer. They have food as well, but we were just here for drinks. They didn't really have much of a happy hour deal if you like craft beers.
