Weekly Explorations in Orlando Enjoying Nature, Downtown, Winter Park, Walt Disney World and More

It's a busy time of year with school coming to an end with the kiddos. When I start to feel overwhelmed I always enjoy getting out and enjoying nature. The weather was beautiful all week and It was nice to enjoy the sights and sounds of the lake.

Wednesday afternoon I got to take part in a food tasting in downtown. The preferred caterers for the new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts were letting guests sample menu items they will be serving at the new arts complex. While the food was the highlight, I was excited to be able to see the displays on hand of what the finished project may look like. I'm so excited to have a new arts center in Orlando. I look forward to the culture this new arts complex will bring to the city.

After enjoying the tasty food served by the caterers. A few of us headed over to Schumanns Jager Haus to enjoy some German beer. Walking into this local restaurant you'll feel as if you've been transported to Germany. They have a nice selection of German beers on tap and you'll find one on special each day.

Friday was the day you knew the hot weather was here to stay. While it was a beautiful sunny day the temperatures were in the 90's. Though it was hot Bryan and I decided to bike over to Winter Park and enjoy some craft beer and bites at Cask & Larder. Cask & Larder is one of my favorite places to enjoy a pint of Florida craft beer. The beers are $3 if you stop by during happy hour from 4pm-6pm Monday-Friday (3-6 on Sunday).

After enjoying a couple of beers Bryan and I made our way over to Prato on Park Avenue. We bellied up to the bar to enjoy a pint from Cigar City Brewing. Prato is one of my favorite restaurants. I'm a huge fan of their menu and appreciate their farm to table approach. The two of us enjoyed a wonderful salad and great pizza.

We decided to make a quick stop to Dinky Dock Park on our bike ride home. It was nice to put my feet in the sand and enjoy the sounds of the lapping water. There were a few folks out fishing that evening as well.

Saturday morning I headed out to the Magic Kingdom with my youngest and her friend. We had a fun (albeit hot) day at the park. We got to ride on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and enjoy lunch at Be Our Guest. Fastpass+ made it easy to make and change ride reservations on our visit. We were able to hit all the Mountains and plus some.

Sunday I took a visit to Titusville with a bunch of Yelp friends. We were invited to visit Wild Ocean Seafood. Wild Ocean Seafood is serving up some Fresh From Florida seafood at their market and at local restaurants. You can also find them selling their fresh seafood on Mondays at the Audubon Park Community Market.
