Garden View Tea Room

The Grand Floridian is one of my favorite Walt Disney World resorts. We've enjoyed a couple of stays at this resort and we've dined at the resort many times; one of my favorite things to enjoy at Walt Disney World is afternoon tea in the Garden View Tea Room located off the resort lobby.

I like to save the tea for special occasions. My birthday was coming up and I made a reservation for my family, but I soon realized I'd have more fun with some friends.

Our tea took place the Sunday before Christmas when the Grand Floridian is decked out in its holiday finest. The seasonal decorations made it quite a lovely atmosphere for my holiday birthday.

This was my first visit to the Garden View Tea Room was there was no al la carte menu. I'm not sure if this is standard now or if they were only doing this during the busy holiday season?
There were five options of tea service to choose from including Mrs. Potts Tea, which is geared towards children. Two of us went with The Grand Tea while my other friends enjoyed a Princess Kate Tea and the Buckingham Tea. Having ordered a mix of tea services for our table it was nice to see the differences in the courses that were offered.

Each tea service starts off with your own pot of tea. There are many tasty flavors to choose from. The servers were more than helpful in making recommendations if needed. I enjoyed a holiday tea that had a nice cinnamon flavor to it. Everyone at our table ordered a different tea and we all enjoyed sampling the different flavors.

Three of us ladies got a glass of sparkling champagne with our service. The Princess Kate tea came with higher quality champagne, but the option to upgrade was available.

My first course for The Grand Tea was the Assorted Tea Sandwiches. I enjoyed every one of them! The Roasted Pear and Gorgonzola were my favorites, but I also thought the egg salad was perfect.

The second course was the Buttery Scone and Jam Tart. These were both very good, but the Jam Tart was a bit much for me.

Just when we thought we had no more room to enjoy any more food eat it was time for some treats. There are some options with The Grand Tea. I really wanted a White Chocolate Strawberry so I went with picking two treats off the pastry plate. My second choice was the Mini Chocolate Ã‰clair. These too were tasty.

Another option for the third course for The Grand Tea was Strawberries and Cream. We could not get over how beautiful this presentation was!

While we all ordered different tea services our waitress did a lovely job of serving each of us at the right time. These courses were nicely spaced so that you could enjoy the food, the tea, and champagne without ever feeling rushed or waiting too long for the next service.

I had such a lovely time. Coming to the Garden View Tea Room during the holidays just may become a new tradition. I've always enjoyed my visits here but having the Christmas tree and the Gingerbread House across the lobby just made it even more special.
