We started out with a cocktail suggested by the bartender; Paradise was nice refreshing drink that went well with the fresh fare we were enjoying that evening.
There were a number of select items from the menu that were being passed to sample. Shrimp cocktail is pretty basic, but the shrimp were very good and paired well with their in house cocktail sauce.
The White Fish Ceviche was delicious with watermelon, cherry tomatoes, avocado, pickled red onion and avocado. The flavors complimented the fish quite well.
The Adobo Pork & Crispy Polenta Cake was an unexpected pleasure. The chipotle braised pork was quite tasty on top of the polenta cake. The avocado and pickled red onions added a nice balance.
While I enjoyed all that I tasted, the KASA Corn was my favorite dish of the evening. The miso lime aioli with the manchego cheese was delicious. I wish I had a whole ear to enjoy!
While I'm not a big fan of Oysters, I did think the Baked Wasabi Oysters were good. The wasabi was a nice kick.
The evening was filled with some great food and drinks. Chef Shawn Kaplan is offering up a nice mix of "global" small plates that are sure to appease many palates. The staff working were wonderful and answered any questions we had about the menu.
KASA is a nice addition to the downtown Orlando restaurant scene. The modern dining room is inviting, but you may want to take in the Florida sunshine and enjoy your meal al fresco on the lovely patio. Either way you are sure to enjoy the food and the ambiance of KASA Tapas & Raw Bar.
