Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Round One

Bryan and I headed out to Epcot for opening day of the Food & Wine FestivalWe met up with our friends Marvin at Foodbidden and his wife Tara. We were there to do a "little" eating around the World.  It's always fun eating with Marvin; he loves trying new things and we have to sample everything! Tara's parents joined in on the fun too. Our group's motto was "sharing is caring", so we all ate and drank a lot!

With our Marketplace Discovery Passports in hand we headed out on our eating and drinking adventure. Many of the booths are close to each other, so often we would split up with someone getting food from a few booths at the same time then we would meet up and sample the bites.  I didn't try anything at the Terra booth, which was stop number one. The line was long and nothing on that menu interested me.

We had a stop in Brazil and got the two items on that menu. Both were tasty and the highlight for me was the Ragout with the Seared Scallop.

We all really enjoyed the Grilled Beef Skewer from the Argentina booth. The Chimichurri Sauce & Boniato Puree was delicious.

The Pavlova from the Australia Marketplace was amazing! This dessert out-shined the Garlic Shrimp.

We all thought both the Tacos from Mexico were quite good. I would come back here and order them again.

We moved on out from the Marketplace's around the Mexican pavilion and made our way over to the China pavilion where we sampled food from Singapore and China.

The Lemongrass Chicken Curry was good, but I was hoping I'd love it.

The China Marketplace was my favorite stop of the day. We loved everything we sampled. We would have gotten the Shrimp, but they were out of it already and it was only noon!  The Mongolian Beef was amazing and the Coconut Silk Ice Cream Ribbon was unlike anything I had ever had before; delicious!

Our next pit stop was over near Germany. This was a very popular area. The crowds were pretty heavy, but it was worth standing in line.

I was impressed with the Artisan Cheese Selection; it was not only very good the presentation was quite lovely too.

The Brewer's Collection was the Marketplace I was most excited about. We got a Bier Flight #2 and enjoyed all the offerings. My favorite in the flight was the BraufactuM Darkon. I can't wait to come back and do Bier Flight #1.

Our last Marketplace of the day was Germany. I had wanted to get the Schinkennudeln, but it was no longer available so I went with the Bratwurst. I didn't really care for the Bratwurst; the Pretzel Roll seemed a bit dried out. The Apple Strudel on the other hand was delicious!  I've enjoyed the Oktoberfest over in Sommerfest, so I had to get a glass to compliment our samplings.

I didn't get a photo of the Chicken Potstickers from China, but those were delicious. I also missed a snapshot of the Spinach & Paneer Cheese Pocket from the Africa Marketplace that too was delicious.

After making our way to about half way through we knew we had reached our limit. On top of the food from the event, we enjoyed a Mango Green Tea Slush from Joy of Tea in China and a Strawberry Lime Margarita from the Margarita Stand in Mexico.

I had a great time and can't wait till we go back and hit the spots we missed this go around. I hope to try more food and drink pairings next time. It was quite busy being that it was opening day. I was surprised that they ran out of a couple of menu items so fast. There were a lot of folks there enjoying the Festival. We saw a number of groups sporting t-shirts they had made specifically for the event. The CM's were great and many engaged with the guests.

The Food & Wine Festival runs through November 11th.  If you are a Florida resident and want to enjoy the festivities, you may want to think about getting an Epcot after 4 pm Annual Pass.
