Bryan is big into golf, so when he heard one of his favorite PGA players Graeme McDowell was opening up a place in Lake Nona he couldn't wait to check it out. While Bryan couldn't wait to check out the restaurant this particular visit wasn't planned. We were driving back from Cocoa Beach and were looking for the Nona Tap room and stopped at Nona Blue instead.
The dining room is quite spacious with a large bar located in the center. There's also a nice covered patio with an outdoor bar. We usually prefer sitting at the bar chatting with others and watching the game on TV. It was nice to see how comfortable the bar was; the chairs were padded and the right height.
Once we got settled in we looked over the beer menu which has a number of craft options. Bryan got the Cigar City Maduro and I ended up with a Hoegaarden since they were out of Bell's Two Hearted Ale.
Once we were enjoying our beers we perused the menu. There were a number of tasty options to choose from, they were what you'd expect from a nice tavern. We ended up splitting the House Salad and The "BLT"Grilled Cheese.
The salad was delicious with the house buttermilk dressing. It was nice to see it wasn't some boring run of the mill house salad, but one that included a chopped egg and smoked bacon. We found it plenty to share. The BLT was tasty too, but it would have been a bit to rich for me I wasn't splitting it. The lobster tasted great and the Seasoned Fries were a nice side.
I enjoyed myself, but I found the crowd to be a bit more older and I'm no spring chicken. I did see some families pile in towards the end of the evening. Service was wonderful as they made sure we were taken care of and they were lovely to chat with at the bar. This is a drive for us, so I don't see us visiting that often. If we are in the area I would stop by for a beer and some eats and who knows maybe my husband will get a glimpse of GMAC.
