Dr. Phillips Community Park

Dr. Phillips Community Park has about all you ask for in a park. I was surprised at all the offerings which make it nice for family visits.

After parking in one of the large lots, we scoped out our surroundings to see what we could come up with. We ventured out to the park looking for some nature trails. Not sure where to go since we couldn't find any signage.

You will first notice the lovely view of the lakeside park. We came upon the children's spray ground and noticed the dog park down to the right of it. We noticed some people talking by a group of picnic tables so we asked them if they knew where the nature trail was located. Turns out it's located up by the entrance and there was a fitness trail that made its way there.

Heading over to the nature trail we enjoyed seeing children playing on the playground. We also came across a couple of volleyball court sand little league fields.

We made our way to the "LongHorn Steakhouse" Nature Trail. The trail isn't very long and took us a leisurely twenty minutes. We got a nice nature fix, but you will still hear the sounds of civilization int he backgrounds as I-4 is just across the lake. The trail is easily marked, so there's not getting lost. It is a sand trail so your feet may get dirty.

Once we were done wandering that trail we took the Fitness Trail back to the park and strolled around a bit over there. We got a kick out of watching the doggies play with one another in their fenced in area.

The one criticism I have of this park is the lack of shaded trees.  Though you will find some relief from the canopies scattered about.

Dr. Phillips Community Park is a wonderful asset to the area. It's a beautiful space that has a lot to offer.

Have you been to Dr. Phillips Community Park?  What are some of your favorite parks in & around Orlando?

Velvet Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando

I love the Velvet Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando. It's cool, but without trying to be pretentious. Our family has season passes to Universal. We have fun going to the parks quite regularly, but my kids are old enough to go on their own and my husband doesn't enjoy the rides. Often the two of us will spend our time wandering around the grounds of Universal Orlando checking out various restaurants and bars while the kids enjoy the rides & such.

One afternoon strolling around we thought it'd be fun to check out the lounge housed in the Hard Rock Hotel. I love the look here; sleek yet comfortable. You'll find music memorabilia dotting the walls and there are a couple of TV’s showing the music videos being heard throughout the lounge.
